Multiple Cases-Based Reasoning Including Justification

چکیده
Case-based reasoning is a promising approach to develop a tutoring system. However, there still remains some problems to be solved. First, the system should explain the inference procedure upon the user’s requests. Second, the explanation structure in the case may be inconsistent during the adaptation process. Third, when the system finds a gap between the new problem situation and the retrieved case, more complete matching should be performed by using not only the case but also multiple cases. In this paper, the authors will introduce the explanation structure so as to explain the reasoning process. Then, the authors will introduce a justification process for justifying the explanation structure. Finally, the authors will study the adaptability of multiple cases to create a solution which explains a complex reasoning process.

On Labelling Statements in Multi-Labelling Argumentation
In computational models of argumentation, argument justification has attracted more attention than statement justification, and significant sensitivity losses are identifiable when dealing with the justification of statements by otherwise appealing formalisms. This paper reappraises statement justification as a formalism-independent component in argument-based reasoning. We introduce a novel ge...
متن کاملEditorial Case Based Reasoning in the Health Sciences
The Health Sciences provide a lively niche for case based reasoning applications. The main justification for this is that case based reasoning is a unique methodology in artificial intelligence, which capitalizes on previous experiences, or cases, for solving new problems. Therefore it is particularly well adapted to life and natural sciences such as biology and medicine, where cases abound. Th...
متن کاملIntuition and the junctures of judgment in decision procedures for clinical ethics.
Moral decision procedures such as principlism or casuistry require intuition at certain junctures, as when a principle seems indeterminate, or principles conflict, or we wonder which paradigm case is most relevantly similar to the instant case. However, intuitions are widely thought to lack epistemic justification, and many ethicists urge that such decision procedures dispense with intuition in...
متن کاملDoxastic Reasoning with Multi-Source Justifications based on Second Order Propositional Modal Logic
In multi-agent systems, an agent generally forms her belief based on information from multiple sources, such as messages from other agents or perception of the external environment. While modal epistemic logic has been a standard formalism for reasoning about agent’s belief, it lacks the expressive power for tracking information sources. Justification logic (JL) provides the missing expressivit...

In this paper we present three key elements of case-based reasoning (“CBR”) and describe how these are realized in our HYPO program which performs legal reasoning in the domain of trade secret law by comparing and contrasting cases. More specifically, the key elements involve how prior cases are used for: (1) Credit assignment of factual features; (2) Justification; and (3) Argument in domains ...
